Why Winter weddings are great

Winter weddings in Cornwall are becoming increasingly popular and it is easy to see why…
Aside from the fact that many venues and suppliers drop their prices in the off peak months, great for those cash-savvy couples, there are many other appealing elements to booking your wedding in winter.

Dramatic Photographs
Moody skies and striking Cornish coastlines can make for some stunning wedding photographs.

No Wedding Forecast Worries
By booking your wedding in the colder months you will not be so hung up on the weather. Unlike with a summer wedding when you will be checking the forecast for the possible appearance of sunshine every day. With a winter wedding you will be expecting typical winter weather so instead you can concentrate on making your venue all warm and cosy inside.

Guest Attendance
It is likely to be easier for family and friends to get time off work if needed for the wedding during the winter months than it would be during peak summer months when everyone else is booking their holidays too.  It is also likely that your guests have not been to a do in a while and will be ready for a good wedding! Unlike during the summer when they may have been to many and are becoming slightly wedding weary!

Get the Party Started
With the nights drawing in that much earlier in the day, you can begin your evening reception sooner, meaning only one thing, more time for dancing!

You may even be lucky enough to get a dusting of snow, creating your wedding winter wonderland!

Winter Wedding Ideas…

• Adorn your venue with fairy lights, candles and lanterns to create that cosy intimate glow.

• Pinecones can look really effective when it comes to winter wedding styling, use them as name place card holders or in clusters around your venue. You could even incorporate small ones in your bouquet.

• When it comes to wedding attire, how about a fur-trim on the brides wedding dress or shawl to cover her shoulders? The flower girl could have one to match and fur muffs for the bridesmaids will keep them warm and look great!  The groom could opt for a velour, tweed or wool/cashmere blend suit.

• Have a DIY hot chocolate station with a range of toppings and perhaps a choice of Baileys or Bourbon to add!  Mulled wine, winter cocktails or a rum punch are also great winter wedding drinks.

• A s’mores station for creates a cozy spot for guests to come together and enjoy these delicious treats.

• Is your wedding near to the festive period? How about a Christmas tree decorations as favours? The can double up as name place card holder too. Your guests can then take them hope to add to their Christmas tree, this favour will be kept for years to come, unlike many that just get forgotten and left behind once the day is over.
